Afro Neglect

Yep. It is what I have been doing for the past 2 weeks. I have been neglecting it and hoping no one notices. But of course everyone does. My husband was looking at me sideways for the last few days and saying semi under his breath along with a fake cough "Ahem....what's up with your hair? *Cough*...I love you an all but girl gotta work on that fro....*Cough*".

So in his not so slick way I finally figured out it was time to get back to my roots. Seriously. I hadn't touched my roots in those 2 weeks.

Ever since I did my mini twists takedown here, I have just done a wash and go style whenever I actually had to leave the house. Nothing more, nothing less. Until today when I had to go out for a religious meeting. It was at 4:00 and I finally came to realization that the twists I left in and never fully unfurled were now turning into mini locs. Since I'm not going for that look, I needed to get my head in check.

Fast forward to the 45 minutes I spent in the shower cleaning and detangling my fro. At the end I had a great head of hair to show for it. Clean and poppin'!

Tonight I am sitting on the couch catching up on some blog reading and the husband walks in and says "You know this afternoon the shower looked like you got visited by an afro samarai and you got beat!"

I guess I lost alot of hair this go round...yikes! I hope this will not happen again. I am going to be more vigilant and on top of this here cute little mop of mine.

What about you my fellow naturals? Do you ever just let your hair go and then pay for it later? I have a theory that I am still thinking might make a great post but we'll see if I write it down.

Let me know if I'm alone on this front.

Mini Twists Takedown

So here is the result and the after shots for you from my Mini Twists takedown....

Step 1: Take off silk scarf this morning and stare at the smooshed fro for a second, formulate my plan, take a deep breath and move onto step 2...

Step 2: Attack it with some water! Wake my tresses with my liquid hydro mixture of H2O, Vitamin E and olive oil.

Step 3: Rub my hands through it and then tug a little bit at a time from the root up to give it some volume.

And because the weather looked like this all day...

Can you tell it's raining?

I stayed in all day and sported my little fro with no frills, thrills, or whistles. Today I just :o)

Can Twisting Cause Carpal Tunnel?

Can it? Huh? Cause my wrists are KILLING ME!! I bet you there are no studies proving this theory, but I think that it very well could cause some serious carpal tunnel or at least some tennis elbow.

Yes, I did get tired of my twists already and wanted to see what they looked like under there. So....I untied the twists tonight and so far this is what I have before I head off to bed.

I will now be heading off to bed and tying up my hair in my silk scarf and then will let it down in the morning and style it then. Are you as excited as I am to see what will happen? I hope so!

My First Mini Twists!

What's good everybody? Hope all is well. I have been radio silent on here for more than a minute that is the truth. But just because I have not kept you all up to date on my hair front did not stop it from doing it's own thing and growing upwards and outwards. :o)

I have been having pretty progressive growth steadily over the last few months and I thought I should share. It's what good friends do, right? Right!

So I finally felt one day that my hair was long enough to start doing more than my usual wash, primp, and go and boy was I right! I have realized that my hair is now long enough to sport a pretty impressive pineapple poof and now a short little mini twist 'do of sorts.

I am not going to lie and say "Oh my goodness I love it, love it, loooooooove it!" because truthfully....I really don't. I think it's a cute hairstyle, but not for long term. Not yet at least. I like how the twists came out but I just don't like how flat my hair is to my head. I like the full body of my fro and frizz to be free to roam. Catch the wind if I may. Anyway, here is the most recent picture of my mini twists. This is DAY THREE:

I like the look and feel of it today because of how loose the twists are. I felt like they looked too severe after I finished off the last one. But now they are just loose and more flexible to move around. I like an older look what can I say?

Well that's that and now I would like to hear what you all think. Do you get the gist of what it looks like? Do I need better lighting? Yes and I apologize because the sunshine is not shining in the sunshine state today - go figure! But tell me what you tell...

Pssst...also I'm doing a little survey here. How many of you would watch YouTube videos of yours truly doing vlog updates more so than blog updates? I've always been called a character so I am pretty sure it will be entertaining. Ha! Post a comment with your thoughts on that as well. Cause mamas really contemplating that!
